What Is Your Lucky Number

Do you have a favourite number, or one you consider to be a lucky number?

Numerologists are often asked what numbers are lucky, and most of the time it is relevant to personal finances although it can also relate to one’s health or love life.

The answer is that there is no one number  that is lucky for everyone, although quite often people are drawn to a certain number and associate that number with positive outcomes or fortunate events in their lives. In that case, with positive, proactive use of the Power of Intention and the Law of Attraction, that number may well be their lucky number. Often when I meet clients for the first time and tell them the number of their life path or soul urge, they will share with me that they’ve always liked that number.

Each of the numbers represents different areas of life. For that reason each of the numbers can bring positive energy, depending on your purpose and intent.

Even numbers bring predictability and stability into our lives:

The number 2 will heighten your intuition and assist you in finding a partner.

Call in the energy of number 4 if you are looking for work, building a new home, addressing long term security, or laying foundations of any type.

The number 6 will provide support to anyone who is seeking greater harmony in their relationships, or looking for a romantic soul mate.

If you are working on financial increase, the number 8 can bring positive outcomes. The thing to remember about 8 is that it is a very karmic number. (Just look at the shape of an 8… what goes around comes around!)  In order to fully reap the benefits of 8 the individual must maintain a high degree of integrity.

Odd numbers represent creative and expansive energy:

The number 1 brings clarity and heightened ambition, so it adds momentum to new undertakings.

The number 3 is especially associated with creativity, fertility and expansion. I encourage my clients to think of fertility as the ability to bring something wonderful into the world, rather than the likelihood of getting pregnant, (although that can certainly happen with the influence of the numbers 3, 5, or 6.)

As the number of change, the 5 is a dynamic number, and can sometimes be considered unlucky. It lends support to communications, and to travel and adventure.

The number 7 has been called the perfect number since, according to Pythagoras, it combines the square and the triangle, the feminine and the masculine energies. It supports studies and research. The expansion that takes place with number 7 is that of inner knowledge and depth of understanding.

The sensitive number 9 is favourable for anyone who is involved in the arts or healing.

April 2017 Numerology Forecast

Add the number of your month of birth (4 for April, 9 for September etc.) to your day of birth. If your last birthday was in 2016 add the number 9 to your first total. (2+0+1+6=8).  If you have already had your 2016 birthday or will have it very soon, you will add the number 1 to your first calculation.

Most of you will have a two digit number. If it is 11, 22, or 33, your calculations are finished- if not, add those two digits together to get only one digit.

For example, if your birthday is February 16:

  • add  2+1+6+1  =10;   1+0=1   This person will begin a 1 personal year

If your birthday was December 27:

  • add  1+2+2+7+9 = 21;   2+1=3  This person is in a 3 personal year

Let’s look at the descriptors for your personal month and see what April supports for you.

1 2017 has required honesty and decisive action. Now you are ready to put the past behind you. It feels like things are opening up for you this month. One or more obstacles have been or are being removed, and new information brings a greater sense of direction.  “What is my next best step?”

2 or11 Corrections are being made to your flight path and you are in a process of re-inventing yourself and your life. In addition, there has been a whirlwind of activity and obligations. April brings a balancing influence and offers opportunities to get back to basics – home, family, SELF and Mother Earth. “How are you caring for yourself?”

3 Circumstances that may be causing stress seem to be coming from external sources, but the answers you are seeking are within you. Step back from emotional turmoil. Do a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats). April brings opportunities to gain fresh perspective. “What is the big picture here?”

4 or 22 You’ve been working SO hard, for SO long! It feels like your life has been run by your “to-do” list. Although there is still more work ahead of you, in April you start to see results for all your efforts and have a sense of bringing a major commitment to completion. Make time for restorative rest. “Am I working harder than I need to right now?”

5 The theme of change has been intense this year. It has taken a lot of your physical, mental, and emotional energy. April brings a sense of completion. Take time to integrate changes on all the above levels. You need a rest before you start anything new. “What delights me in my new circumstances?”

6 Energy is shifting. New circumstances lead to a new sense of direction. Clearer thinking prevails as you assess priorities.  Decisions need to be made and everyone close to you benefits if you put your needs first. “How can I make the best use of my time and talents?”

7 Plans may change as you receive new information and insight. Discussions, collaboration, small committee meetings may be a major theme this month. Guard confidentiality. Share your time, energy, resources, and personal information only on an as needed basis. “What clues tell me when to be careful about sharing?”

8 Step up your game. April has the potential to bring positive energy to your career and financial goals. Work-related social events bring opportunities to meet new people who will be interested in what you’re doing. For business people this is the perfect month to roll out a new product or service. “Who do I need to talk to about this?”

9 April brings strong support for making improvements in your mental and physical well-being. There will be distractions – avoid going madly off in all directions in your personal and professional life. Get outside and gain strength as you connect with nature. “What’s one small step that will make a difference to my well-being?”

March 2017 Numerology Forecast

Add the number of your month of birth (4 for April, 9 for September etc.) to your day of birth. If your last birthday was in 2016 add the number 9 to your first total. (2+0+1+6=9).  If you have already had your 2016 birthday or will have it very soon, you will add the number 1 to your first calculation.

Most of you will have a two digit number. If it is 11, 22, or 33, your calculations are finished- if not, add those two digits together to get only one digit.

For example, if your birthday is February 16:

add 2+1+6+1  =10;   1+0=1   This person will begin a 1 personal year

If your birthday was December 27:

add 1+2+2+7+9 = 21;   2+1=3  This person is in a 3 personal year

Let’s look at the descriptors for your personal month and see how you can welcome spring of 2017.

1 Personal Year: March supports you in re-evaluating priorities and taking care of unfinished business. To feel lighter and more content, make this a month of “anti-procrastination”. Ask yourself: “How will I feel when I bring this to satisfactory completion?”

2 or 11 Personal Year: You’ve been working hard. You’ve had a lot of balls up in the air for a long time, and it looks as though you have to keep juggling for most of this month. Be grateful for productive work, but do take down time whenever you can, even if it’s just for a short period of time. Ask yourself: Will this activity replenish my life force energy?

3 Personal Year: You have plenty of original ideas, and some inspire you to be of service.  Get them down on paper, sit with them, prioritize, and be cautions in taking on  new commitments. This month especially it will be important for you to finish what you start.  Ask yourself: Do I really have the time or the inclination to make this commitment?

4 or 22 Personal Year Hold your cards close this month. Operate on a need to know basis. Certain plans and ideas are still in process and may be subject to change or at least delays, (which always serve us in the long run.) Time outside helps you think clearly. Ask yourself:  Am I getting enough fresh air?

5 Personal Year: You may feel overwhelmed with information and details. It’s time for big picture thinking, time to get a clear picture of what you want. This month is likely to bring a breakthrough in your personal/ professional life. There is definitely a sense of momentum and forward movement. Ask yourself: how can I remain physically and mentally strong?

6 or 33 Personal Year:  Change is in order. It’s time to get your energy flowing again. Make a change in your personal space this month (even a small change) and you’ll notice how things will open up for you and start an upward trend. Make a decision to be more active and you’ll invite positive experiences. Ask yourself: What positive change will I co-create?

7 Personal Year: Some serious” me time” is in order, along with restorative rest, and it looks like you’ll have more time for this in March. Get your calendar out and schedule in quality time alone. Make you, your health, and your peace of mind a priority. Ask yourself: “How can I be my own best friend?”

8 Personal Year:  You’re making important decisions this month, and managing situations that you may or may not have anticipated. Communication and technology are strong themes. March brings a possibility of career change or advancement.  You’ll feel more ready to welcome spring if you get more sleep and tone down the mind-chatter. Ask yourself: What can I delegate?

9 Personal Year: You’ve had your share of responsibilities this year and by now you feel ready for a break. It’s time to play a little and nurture your inner child. Don’t spread yourself, (or your money), too thin; but if possible spend some good times with your friends. This would also be a good time to get out to a concert or play. Ask yourself: “What can I do today just for fun?”

Your 2017 Personal Year Forecast

Your personal year is a temporary vibration that influences your life in highly discernible ways. It begins each year on your birthday, although the preceding weeks will often bring a noticeable period of transition from the previous year. Even though it’s temporary, this is a very important component of your number profile.

Knowing your personal year number helps you to understand what is happening in your life right now. It encourages you to accept delays and embrace unexpected changes to your plans, knowing that your highest good will always prevail. In fact, knowing the number of your personal year helps you to make good use of that energy, to align your thoughts and deeds, goals and action plans with it in such a way that your quality of life is enhanced.

We all move in regular progressive patterns through our personal years 1 to 9, although at times we may experience the energy of a Master number year 11, 22, or 33 instead of the lower octaves 2, 4, and 6.

Your personal year begins on your birthday, and unless your birthday is at the beginning of January or end of December you will experience the energy of two personal years within each calendar year.

If it is 11 or 22  your calculations are finished- if not, add those two digits together to get only one digit.

For example, if your birthday is February 16:

add  2+1+6+1  =10;   1+0=1   This person will begin a 1 personal year

If your birthday was December 27:

add  1+2+2+7+9 = 21;   2+1=3  This person is in a 3 personal year

1 You may feel that you have been undervalued, especially in your workplace and may wish to strike out in a bold new direction. This year you must be clear on your core values. Take inventory of areas where you have authentic power, and prioritize your needs. A double dose of the 1 energy can signify breakthrough and abrupt change. February is a good month for you to take some play time.

Reflective Question: How do I acknowledge my self-worth?

2 & 11 The 2-1 dance can be tricky, and marriage/partnership issues may come to the surface. Something you began last year needs your attention. If it is still important to you, you need to take it off the back burner. Make adjustments, take care of details, determine your next best action step and apply discipline. The 11/1 combination brings its fair share of “patience practice” moments. You are no longer willing to tolerate circumstances that are not serving you or others. February is your “anti-procrastination” month. Not a moment to lose!

Reflective Question:  How do I really feel about current projects and goals?

3  Original and creative ideas abound. As long as you are honest with yourself, the 1 energy of 2017 can help you decide which of your ideas are most likely to make a positive difference. It can also help you maintain your focus as you bring your plans into concrete reality. (Distractions will come along.) Your 3 year also carries the potential for travel and romance. February may bring an opportunity for you to take a break.

Reflective Question:  Is this project/activity/event a distraction or an enhancement?

4 & 22 Work is demanding. Others depend on you to complete assignments and deliver the goods,(and sometimes to pull up the slack). A 22 year indicates a heavy work assignment that will impact a large number of people and may take you overseas. Progress is not dramatic this year, but if you remain disciplined and organized you will see positive results.  The 4/1 combination may result in rigid thinking. Remain open to new information and different points of view. February may bring your attention to repairs or improvements needed at home.

Reflective Question:  What are my expectations? What results do I want to see for my efforts?

5 You are craving freedom and ready to make friends with change.2017 strongly supports you in exploring new options, making new connections, sharing ideas and information, bringing others on board with worthwhile plans and projects. The 1/5 influence can bring opportunities to travel to a new destination or move to a new part of the country. Be careful to maintain a financial safety net. February calls you to proceed cautiously with a new relationship or business venture.

Reflective Question:  What parts of my current reality am I willing to give up? Will it be enough to bring the change I seek?

6 The 1 and 6 energies can be a tricky combination. In the midst of your quest for independence you find that there are loved ones who need your time and attention, and responsibilities that must be fulfilled. 2017 brings opportunities to strengthen mutually supportive relationships and to either heal or release those that are not serving the highest good. You may take on a new role this year as a parent or a grandparent. February brings moderate improvements in your finances.

Reflective Question:  What have I done today as an act of self-love?

7 “Stop the world, I want to get off!” 1 and 7 energies support you as you bring responsibilities to completion; release some obligations such as committee work or certain roles within your family/community. Your social life tapers off. The 7 is an introspective year. Reflecting on your journey – your personal and spiritual growth – brings clarity and a sense of direction.  February brings heightened sensitivity, intuitive guidance, and opportunities for spiritual healing.

Reflective Question:  How will I use this time to replenish my life force energy?

8 Physically strong and mentally sharp, you’re on top of your game. The 1 and 8 energies work well together and will move you forward in life if you play by the rules. (Integrity and discipline) Your focus is on your career and you step up to new responsibilities and leadership roles. Big picture thinking and effective time management are critical at this time. This is a powerful combination for athletes, entrepreneurs, and business leaders. February brings a new project and possibly a new designation within your industry.

Reflective Question:  Who do I want to be in this situation?

9 You may crave time to yourself, yet there are many valid reasons why you need to “be there” for others. 2017 expands your sphere of influence and positions you to inspire others with your words and deeds. What you do and how you do it has a profound impact on your next nine years. Trust your intuition. February brings news and sheds light on a current situation.

Reflective Question:  What do I wish everyone could understand?

Mystical Master Numbers

Several years ago, people around the world were deeply moved by the rescue of thirty-three miners in Chile, who had been trapped underground for thirty-three days. The faith and courage of everyone who was involved was profoundly inspiring.

The entire event brought the world’s attention to the number 33, which emerged in several ways. There were 33 miners, it took 33 days to drill the hole, and there were journalists from 33 different countries on the scene.

The number 33 is one of the multiples of 11 that are considered to be Master numbers. As the number of Christ consciousness and the Master Teacher, it indicates a person who is so strongly committed to truth and right action that they are willing to make personal sacrifices, and if necessary to make the ultimate sacrifice.  There is nothing subtle about the 33 energy.  These people are creative, outspoken, and unrelenting in pursuit of their cause.

The number 22 is also a Master number. As the Master Builder, the 22 indicates an individual who is capable of creating something of lasting value, of leaving a legacy that will benefit and often bring wealth or improved circumstances to large numbers of people. They are visionaries who will take on a daunting task and bring grand ideas into tangible form. It is also interesting to note that when the number 22 is present in an individual profile, that person is likely to attract wealth that is directly proportionate to the good that they do for others.

The psychic number 11 is a seeker of truth and enlightenment. (The word light adds up to 11.)This individual may have a large degree of nervous energy and may often set extremely high expectations for him/her self and others. Individuals with this number in a prominent position attract a lot of attention. In fact they can be charismatic figures who are capable of either doing much good or gaining notoriety.

As with all other numbers, the energy of the Master numbers can be expressed in positive, life enhancing ways, or in negative and destructive ways.

A Master number may appear in your full name, (at birth), one of your individual names, in your day of birth, or in your complete date of birth. They can also appear as a temporary vibration, such as a major cycle, pinnacle, personal day, month, or year. The position of any Master number in your profile indicates the degree to which its energy is affecting your life.

Master numbers have the strongest influence in our lives when they are arrived at by combining  the full name at birth (total expression) or the complete date of birth (life path). This is a definite indication that you have “put your hand up” for a major assignment in this life time, and that you are meant to direct your efforts to uplifting others and healing the planet.

2017 Let’s Make it a Fresh Start

It’s run its course – the drama, the trauma, the clashing ideals, the emotional roller coaster that was 2016.This year when we open the calendar to January 1, we will begin not just a new year but an entirely new nine year cycle. We’re starting over again with a 1 global calendar year.

This is a time for sowing seeds, attracting opportunities, and considering possibilities.

The 1 energy is connected to the sun, which brings life and sustenance to all of us. It is open and direct, and for better or worse, we should know exactly what we’re dealing with.

I’m hopeful that we won’t see the same kind of anger, dis-empowerment, fear and frustration that was so evident throughout 2016. The 9 energy is emotional and idealistic while the1 brings forward focused mental energy, with some physical undertones.

I’m particularly encouraged to see the 7 in 2017. The 7 always brings the voice of reason and caution, and it could have a balancing effect on the youthful, sometimes impulsive, impatient number 1.

The 1 is known to be a masculine energy. Those of us who embrace the cause of women’s rights, and fundamental human rights may feel concerned. We have already felt the sting of accelerated backlash in recent months as some groups and individuals cling to the paradigms of the last century. We will continue our work undaunted, and the 1 energy will help us to catch our breath, regroup, and gain unity and clarity in our purpose and direction. This is our millennium, and the 2020’s will be our decade.

Potential Themes for 2017

  • 1 brings the energy of competition. We are dealing with some leaders who are ego-driven, and we could see greater polarization among their followers.

  • Self-discovery, pride in one’s ethnic origins will play a role in the choices people make this year. They will be asking questions such as “Who am I?” “Where are my roots?” “Where do I belong?”

  • On an individual level we will be seeking ways to become more self-sufficient. This could lead to an increased number of families choosing to grow their own food and live “off the grid”.
  • On an international level we may see a rise in activity amongst various separatist movements around the world. (Scottish independence, Quebec sovereignty etc.)

  • One of my favourite things about the number 1 is that it is often solution focused. It fosters creativity and possibility thinking. This is the year for all of us to ask “What if?” and “Why not?”.

Industries and Initiatives favoured in 2017 include:

Anti-aging and/or Fitness products

Personal training

Personal and Business coaching

Scientific Research and Development

Medical Discoveries

Solar Power

Solo competitive athletic activities

Weight Loss

Proactive choices for 2017.

First of all, I would suggest a releasing and healing ritual for the outgoing year. Mother Earth and our Human Family need our love at this time. Smudge your home, use a singing bowl or candles, or just spend time sending out positive intentions and healing energy. Do this on your own or with a group. There is no right or wrong way. Your love makes a difference and can heal in all directions of time.

Focus your attention on good things that are happening in the world. Ask yourself: “Where can I send loving thoughts today?”

Celebrate your own personal wins.

Ask yourself “What have I done recently as an act of self-love?”

Familiarize yourself with the energy of numbers in general and your personal numbers in particular. They are centres of energy that you can tap into to strengthen your position and enhance your life.

As you progress through the coming months, keep your mind open to exploring new possibilities, meeting new people, trying new activities or learning something new.

Incorporate a new and healthy morning habit, such as five to ten minutes of stretching or writing affirmations, to help you get each day off to a good start. Ask yourself: What small step could I take to attract positive change into my life?

This is no time for unfinished business. Set plans and goals, then make commitments, develop an action plan, and FOLLOW THROUGH.

I wish you all an empowering year.

What is Your Marriage Path?

The sixth month of the year often brings our relationships into focus, so I wanted to share the following information about wedding dates.

A lot of thought goes into choosing a wedding date, but unfortunately many couples are not aware that the date they choose will play a critical part in the course of their marriage.

Just as your date of birth determines your life path, the date of your wedding determines your marriage path.

The marriage path tells us how the couple will be as a couple, and the types of influences and experiences they will attract into their life as a couple. It brings a greater chance of success to the marriage if the path is one that both partners will find harmonious.

The number of the marriage path should compliment the core numbers of each partner as much as possible. Consider the partner’s life path. This tells about the kind of experiences the individual will prefer, and the soul urge, which tells what is important to each partner. Also consider the pinnacles that each is in and the ultimate goal. The ultimate goal is particularly important for couples entering a second marriage sometime in their late thirties or beyond. The destiny will show you what type of marriage path each person will be comfortable with and will find easiest to work within.

If the numbers above are just too diverse to come to a satisfactory marriage path, then consider choosing a marriage path that will compliment or match the harmony number between the two people’s soul urge.

To calculate a marriage path, write the date of the wedding with a plus sign between each digit. (Leave out the zeroes). Add the digits together and keep adding until you get either one digit or the master numbers 11, or 22. That will be the number of the marriage path.

For example a couple married on April 15, 1995 would calculate the marriage path as follows: 4+1+5+1+9+9+5=34, 3+4=7;  a couple married on October 16, 2010 would leave out the zeroes and calculate as follows: 1+1+6+2+1=11

1 Most people get married because they want to join their lives together the 1 marriage path promotes independence, makes  communication difficult, makes it hard to think of the other person’s needs. Partners will be independent, possibly to the extent that they actually ignore one another and that they each become selfish or stubborn.

2 Partners may become good friends and value companionship with each other, although they may become overly dependent, or try to mislead each other. They may have trouble making important decisions that will move them ahead as a couple.

3 Partners will be extremely sociable as a couple, and are likely to attract a lot of friends. They may enjoy the visual and performing arts. Their finances may be scattered and they may need to be reminded to listen to each other and connect deeply, as the 3 can sometimes be superficial.

4 This is a solid hard working couple. They may set up a lot of boundaries, but they will have a secure home. Things could be a little dull, but definitely steady, stable, and predictable. These people will establish their home and family and be respectable citizens in the community.

5 This is a great path for a couple that can respect each other’s right to independence, and also a couple that enjoys traveling together. There can sometimes be financial set backs. In fact this marriage could go either way, feast or famine.

6 These people can be moody with each other, but also very loving and responsible. Home and family will be important and there will be a lot of activity with the extended family. It’s a good path for a couple who wants to have children. Also, the house will likely be quite beautiful and the couple will likely be loyal to each other. The 6 can be a very favourable marriage path.

7 This couple may be quite insular, with a quiet well ordered home. When children arrive, they will focus on their immediate family. Again they will have to work to avoid secrecy with each other and keep communication open. This path may impose some limitations on their financial growth. It is a good marriage path for academic couples or couples involved in the church or missionary work etc.

8 This is the couple that wants to do things in a big way. Both partners will have a strong point of view. They are extroverted and like to be seen out and about.  They will do a lot together and become well known. This path carries potential for prosperity in the marriage; both partners will work towards financial and material rewards. They will probably have an expensive home, and lots of travel.

9 This could go either way, as there will be a lot of time spent outside of the marriage with other people. This path is good for artistic people. It also promotes synergistic work on behalf of others for the greater good. This couple could be involved in charity work. Quality time alone as a couple will be hard to find, but there could be mutual satisfaction through their work. This path would also favour working together as healers, and it indicates lots of traveling. There could be some dramatic arguments in a 9 path.

11 This is a good marriage path for High achievers, want to accomplish a lot on their own and as a couple. These partners value independence, and may choose not to have children. Will be well known individually and as a couple, may live apart for periods of time, and may be involved in spiritual or intellectual pursuits. They may also move abruptly and surprise friends and family members with sudden developments in their lives.

22 Most of the time I wouldn’t suggest a master number for a marriage path. There is too much nervous energy. But a 22 marriage path could work for two people who would like to work in a business, to accomplish major goals, and travel. It combines the qualities of 8 and 4, and the partners would likely be highly sensitive to each other’s needs. 22 marriage path may have the couple moving overseas for work at some point.

How Does Your Birthday Affect Your Response To Change?

If you were born on the 1st, 10th, 19th, or 28th day of any month, you tend to welcome change and often come up with original, creative new ideas and solutions. You don’t like waiting and you don’t like the space between stories. You want to take action now, and  most of all  you want to take charge.

If your birthday is on the 2nd or 20th of any month, you provide caring support to others who are in transition; but may find it mentally and emotionally draining to be in transition yourself – especially when what is familiar is leaving your life.  Taking care of details is a strength that serves you well when in a process of change.

If you were born on the 3rd, 12th, or 21st of any month you may feel vulnerable or overwhelmed, and have some difficulty staying grounded and practical.  A lot of people will be there to either support you, or give advice that may or may not be welcome. In the end your typically optimistic mindset will bring you through to a more than satisfactory outcome.

If you were born on the 4th or 13th of any month, you’re not that fond of surprises. You like to keep your life well organized and predictable, so change may be most unwelcome. As long as you can determine what the incremental steps are and start taking action you will find it easier to adapt.

If your birthday is on the 5th, 14th, or 23rd chances are you’ve encountered many changes and handled a crisis or two along the way. You are adaptable and open-minded. As long as you come to terms with what is and remain honest with yourself, you are likely to land on your feet.

If your birthday is on the 6th, 15th or 24th you handle change with maturity and a strong sense of responsibility. You want to know that others are well cared for, and you will likely play the role of advocate if something seems unfair. Be sure to take care of yourself as well.

If your birthday is on the 7th, 16th, or 25th, you are careful about taking risks and initiating change. You need time to become accustomed to new ideas and circumstances. In a crisis you are the voice of reason, taking inventory, gathering information, weighing options, and making informed decisions.

If your birthday is on the 8th, 17th, or 26th you are innately skilled at fitting all the puzzle pieces together and seeing the big picture. You are known for fairness and good judgement. When faced with change, and especially in a crisis, others will look to you for leadership.

If you were born on the 9th, 18th, or 27th of any month, change affects you deeply in an emotional and spiritual sense. A natural humanitarian, you have fixed ideas about what will be best for everyone and as long as you can keep your own emotions in balance, you do your best to ensure that the highest good prevails.

If you were born on the 11th or 29th change may be uncomfortable for you and may actually cause a level of anxiety. You are also deeply affected by the energy of those around you and how they are responding to events. However, when you initiate change it is likely to be surprising to everyone including yourself.

If you were born on the 22nd you are sensitive and intuitive yet practical and grounded. You are not daunted by the size of a task. You work well with others, have a clear sense of what needs to be done, and will do whatever is necessary to get things running smoothly.

How Numbers Help You Understand Your Child

Most of the articles I write pertain to you and the various areas of your life journey as an adult. Coming home from a volunteering session in our little granddaughter’s grade two class, I felt guided to show readers with children in their life how numbers can effect their social and academic success at school. (You will see the use of either pronoun, “him” or “her” below, in order to avoid writing “him/her”.)

First of all work out your child’s personal year. Add their month of birth, (7 for July, 3 for March etc.) to their day of birth, and then add 8 (2+0+1+5). On your child’s next birthday change the last number in the equation to 9.

Every number brings us both gifts and potential pitfalls. I have tried to explain both below:

1 This is the beginning of an entirely new cycle, and a milestone in your child’s life. The 1 represents mental energy. It may be easier for him to focus on school work although he may be impatient to get it done. In the classroom or on the playground he may feel excited and buoyant, or perhaps lonely, isolated, or misunderstood. You may find that he is highly competitive, and literally wants to be “Number One.” This is a great time to talk to him about the idea of “personal best” and encourage competition with himself. Encourage him to consider exciting new possibilities and use the phrase “What if…”

2 (or 11) This year your child can develop skills in collaboration, and is likely to enjoy helping the teacher. Having a “best friend” will be important to her. This is sensitive and emotional energy and if she is inclined to compare herself with others – as in “I’m not any good at reading, drawing, running etc. All the other kids are better than me” – help her to see that she is being too hard on herself and that she has some really great strengths too. Try not to overwhelm her with too many details or demands given at the same time, and be sure she gets to bed on time.

3 The emotional 3 energy represents the joyful, exuberant, curious, and yet vulnerable and at times insecure child. This can be a successful year, especially as far as his social life goes; and in school his creativity may shine in writing, art, or music. On the downside, he may be easily distracted and find it hard to pay attention to the teacher and the task. Popularity is very important to him and he may also be vulnerable to peer pressure.

4 This is an excellent year to encourage good work habits, routines, and organizational skills. Your child may feel more secure with her group of friends, and more serious about school work. It also tends to be a year for physical growth and strength. The energy is physical and it can be grounding and reassuring, especially if there has been some sort of upheaval in her life. She may be exploring her personal boundaries, (Is that a “keep out” sign on your door? J ), and if parents or authority figures push too hard they might see some rebellion.

5 This is the number of change such as a move, a new sibling, or a parental breakup. Your child will be meeting a lot of new people this year and before the year is over will likely have new interests and a new group of friends. Middle ground is rare in a 5 year. Depending on the subject, he will either feel bored and have trouble concentrating, or get very excited about learning something new. Encourage verbal and written expression of his thoughts and feelings. If ever a parent needs to listen it’s this year.

6 This can be a stable and grounded year for your child in terms of family life, social life, and school. You’ll notice increasing maturity and probably a desire to please at home and at school. She is open to taking on some age appropriate activities, and likes the idea of growing up. With a heightened social conscience, she is developing some convictions about what’s right and fair. There is a strong element of perfectionism. For many children this can mean applying lots of effort and doing an excellent job, although some may avoid assignments because of a fear of failure.

7 As with the 4, this is a great year to encourage good study habits, and as with the 6, it’s a time of maturity. For some children one particular subject sparks interest and growing curiosity. They may want to do a lot of reading or research in this area, and become your family’s resident “expert”. It can be a successful year at school but a potentially awkward year in their social life. The lesson with 7 is to learn to be alone without being lonely; but it will be important for parents to make sure the child is not too withdrawn or secretive.

8 (or 22) This is a time of emergence. With the right support from home and school your child can gain confidence and make significant progress. It’s always good to talk to him about the future, help him to see the big picture and believe in his worthiness to set goals and “go for it”. The 8 energy reinforces this kind of possibility thinking. Children who are athletic will do well in competitions, and those who have innate leadership abilities will receive opportunities to develop their skills.

9 (or 33) You may be surprised with your child’s grasp of complex ideas. She may be curious about the world beyond her community, and open and inquisitive at school. This is an idealistic number. She is probably developing strong convictions about the environment, animal rights, or poverty. She will definitely experience a full range of emotions, and for some that can impact their schooling as they get caught up in “drama” with their friends. It’s the end of the cycle and with a growing sense of change on the horizon, she may feel apprehensive.

If you would like to know more about your child’s numbers as they apply to family dynamics, social life and school performance, I would love to talk to you. Please feel free to call 403-667-8932 or e-mail

Does My Personal Year Indicate Travel?

Understanding the energy of your personal year is like looking at the red dot on a map – the one that says “You are here”. It tells you so much about current circumstances and influences for both you and your partner, and it affects all areas of your life, including travel.

To determine your personal year, add your day and month of birth to the number 7 if your last birthday was in 2014; or to the number 8 if you have already had your 2015 birthday. Keep adding the numbers until you have either one digit, or the numbers 11, 22, or 33.

This is how your personal year can affect your vacation plans:

1 Good year to go somewhere new, travel on your own, or try a new sport or activity

2 May be working with a lower budget – you definitely want a companion and will benefit from time near water.

3 Often brings exciting travel opportunities, may include some sort of celebration and will be a great time for fun and creativity.

4 Great year to stay closer to home for golfing, hiking, gardening; plan outdoor activities, get to know local areas

5 Stay open to new experiences, join a group excursion and go somewhere new with new people.

6 Great year for a “staycation” or a visit with family in another part of the province/country.

7 Like 6, favours low key “staycation” or possibly travel to attend a retreat or take a course.

8 Expansive (often expensive) year; enjoy exploring faraway places and possibly making some business connections while you’re there.

9 Travel brings many opportunities to connect on a soul level with people of different cultures or possibly to volunteer in a third world country

11 Great year for a retreat or healing workshop; may form personal or professional relationship with someone at a distance.

22 Overseas travel definitely recommended; great year for a cruise if budget allows, possible charity work.

33 A good year to volunteer, especially with children, or attend a music/performing arts camp
